It’s All Ombre Hombre

Wearing: American Apparel beanie, Asos top, Asos trousers and 2 Baia Vista platforms

It’s meant to be winter here in Perth, but the fact that I can still rock a singlet tells me otherwise. Received a little package in the mail from Asos yesterday containing this easy to wear tank and these amazing new fav pants. I am seriously into ombre at the moment, mostly in the nails department but I couldn’t say no to this cute gradient number. Will be easy to wear when it does finally cool down too with a cosy knit or leather jacket.

Purple Rain x 5

DSC00944
Wearing: Story by Tang jumpsuit, Topshop jacket and Charlotte Ronson boots

Prince was amazing, there was like five encores and he danced and performed like it was 1999. Not much else to say without verbally vomiting synonyms of praise. I wore my purple Story by Tang jumpsuit, (reppin the beautiful Perth label) and had a fantastic night dancing and swigging champagne with all the Sydney crew.

Just Playin’

Our second day in Sydney, Ash and I were being cheeky and playing around with the depth of field on his phone, just because. As you can see the effect is less than desirable, however I sort of like the funniness of it. Sometimes my top knot is blurry, sometimes my creepers and sometimes even my nose! I absolutely love my new Maurie & Eve Rosie Peplum dress which was an impulse purchase from work the day before I left for Sydney. I think that seeing Prince cast a definite purple tinge over my entire weekend.

So Frenchy, So Chic

First day in Sydney was spent wandering around with no particular agenda. Although we were running on about 2 hours of sleep and I had developed a gross cold, the sun was shining and Sydney was looking gorgeous as per usual, so we had not a worry in the world. I love admiring the art deco apartment buildings around Darlinghurst and relaxing on the grass at Rushcutters Bay. God damn…take me back.

Visual Perfection

This editorial by Sean & Seng for Numero #133 is freaking me out because I am seriously so in love with it. Ginta Lapina is smoking as per usual but the styling and location are just off the richter amazing. Super cool photography duo Sean & Seng have really nailed it with this one. The editorial does that awesome and rare thing that only some editorials do, it takes you so far into the world that has been created that you find yourself captivated in its magically timeless beauty and soon enough you are plotting an elaborate film script limited only by the depths of your wandering imagination. I want the hair, the make-up, the clothes and that houseboat! LOVE LOVE LOVE.

Slam your body down and zigazag ah

When I was younger and the Spice Girls were trending (still are btw) I always wanted to be Sporty Spice. Baby was too cute and fem, Scary was weird and well…scary, Ginger was a ranga which I wasn’t and Posh was just a bore. Sporty was cool in a tough, I don’t give a f*ck, tomboy way and I totally dug that back then. I dressed up as Sporty for all the primary school parties, including my own and also did a really awesome re-enactment dance to ‘Wannabe’ in front of a dodgy blue screen at Timezone on the Gold Coast (which I am totally down to show if anyone wants to see, it was my five mins of fame!).
As the years went by and I went through every different personal style change that a teenager can possibly go through (punk-check, goth-check, skank-check, hippy-check) at 16 I eventually reverted back to my Sporty Spice ways and began rocking sneakers with the healthy gusto of a young girl in love with a badass older boy who also wore sneakers. At 16, I was sold, and quickly started a large collection of kicks that I wore with skinny jeans, short shorts and dresses, I didn’t discriminate, any combo would do.
Fast forward to 2012 and look where we are, captivated by sport luxe fever and casting aside our sole destroying heels in favour of walking on a padded sneaker cloud. While there’s a time and place for all different shoe styles, I always have and always will embrace the sneakers, and while these days when I rock them I sometimes feel like the juvenile 16 year old girl who used to run around town causing an obnoxious ruckus, I still get a little feeling of glee when I pull out an old pair of Airmax 90’s or lace up a brand new pair of Free Runs, because sneakers are the shit! And don’t let no Baby Spice fan tell you otherwise.
